... of Automobiles

Jan 28/05: Easterbrook update (see entry Jan/19):

I did an informal poll of kids at the high school along Democracy Blvd, the road that Easterbrook claims is full of automobiles driving too fast -- remember, it's not the drivers, according to Easterbrook.

The school lot is full of Bimmers, Mercs, and assorted Rice Rockets, most of which have far more power than any school kid would need, and some of which, the kids tell me, they most definitely do put it to good use, if briefly.

"Yeah, the car makes me go fast," said one.

Easterbrook triumphs? Nah. After some clarification, it was agreed by all that the right pedal at worst is temptation. Somebody, after all, does the driving.

The kids then declined to race me in my Ford Escort. See, Mr.  Easterbrook, they're not that crazy...
