... of Politics
Yesterday was all about the European conquest of the Boeing Corporation (given the despicable results and ways to it of the Governor's race in Washington State, they can have it), with the Airbus A380, the 747 Killer, the Future of Flight, the Triumph of Anglo-Franco-Hispanico-Germanico cooperation. Well, we might applaud that they managed to build a good airplane without a fight over Alsace-Lorraine, but really, was it worth the scary sight of a circle jerk starring Chirac, Schroeder, Blair, and the Spanish Wonder Boy, Jose Luis Rodriguez "Runaway!" Zapatero"? (See Airbus Throws Glitzy Party for A380 Superjumbo.) That favorite American television network of the Very French Looking John Kerry, the Very European Public Broadcasting System got into last night with a celebration of that last great European fancy, the Concorde. Not a good precedent, but that's not what PBS meant to say. Well, the currency markets didn't give a damn. At least with the monster plane the Chinese will have someplace to spend all their extra dollars, especially now that the price tag is down a couple pennies on the exchange. [Update 4:29 pm: somebody freaked, and went selling dollars.
Back to $1.3009. George Soros alert! George Soros alert!] Here for previous entry |
